- Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly check blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate.
- Pain Management: Administer prescribed pain medications and monitor pain levels.
- Consciousness & Neurological Checks: Assess level of consciousness, motor function, and orientation.
- Wound Care: Inspect surgical site for signs of infection, change dressings, and ensure proper healing.
- Fluid & Electrolyte Balance: Administer IV fluids(if ordered by MD) and monitor for signs of dehydration or fluid overload.
- Monitor Drainage: Manage surgical drains (e.g., JP drains, chest tubes), track drainage volume, and check for signs of infection.
Pain Medications: Administer opioids, Tylenol, or other analgesics as prescribed.
- Antibiotics: Administer antibiotics to prevent or treat infections.
- Anticoagulants: Provide medications to prevent blood clots (e.g., heparin, enoxaparin).
- Anti-Nausea Medications: Administer antiemetics for nausea management (e.g., Zofran).
- Blood Sugar Control: Monitor and administer insulin or oral hypoglycemics if necessary for diabetic patients.
Oxygen Therapy: Administer oxygen if required/ordered, monitor oxygen saturation, and manage oxygen equipment. (we do not supply oxygen therapy)
- Breathing Exercises: Encourage deep breathing, incentive spirometry, and coughing to prevent pneumonia.

Early Ambulation: Assist with gradual mobilization to prevent blood clots and promote recovery.

Dietary Management: Assess for readiness to resume oral intake (clear liquids, soft foods, etc.).

1. No Food Shopping or Cooking: We do not buy or cook meals.
2. Meal Assistance: We can warm up pre-prepared meals and help make simple items like smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt, etc. Pre-prepared meals should be ready before our service starts, provided by the client.
3. No Full Meal Preparation: We do not prepare full meals.
Discharge Planning: Provide education on wound care, medication regimen, and physical restrictions.
- Home Care Instructions: Teach patients and families about signs of complications (infection, bleeding, etc.) and how to manage pain or dressings at home.
- Follow-up Care: Ensure patients understand when to seek medical attention and how to schedule follow-up appointments
Patient Reassurance: Offer emotional support, reassurance, and encourage patient participation in their recovery.
- Family Support: Provide updates to family members and explain post-op care steps

- Hand Hygiene: Ensure proper hand hygiene before and after patient contact.
- Monitoring for Infections: Watch for fever, increased pain, redness, or drainage at the surgical site.
- Recognizing Complications: Monitor for signs of hemorrhage, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, or respiratory failure.
- Emergency Response: Initiate emergency protocols if the patient experiences significant complications.
Non-Pharmacological Pain Management: Provide ice packs, heating pads, relaxation techniques, and repositioning for pain relief.
- Pain Assessment: Use pain scales to assess and document pain regularly and adjust interventions accordingly

- Anxiety & Stress Management: Provide support for post-op anxiety, fear of complications, or stress related to recovery.
- Counseling Referrals: Refer patients to counseling or therapy as needed for emotional or psychological recovery
- Accurate Charting: Maintain thorough and timely documentation of all nursing interventions, vital signs, medications, and changes in patient condition.
- Collaborative Communication: Regularly communicate with the surgical team, anesthesiologist, and other healthcare providers about the patient’s recovery progress and any concerns
